Apology to the Unapologetic

By Genesis Mihalko

I’m sorry for losing you.
I’m reflecting on the good times; you know, when skies were blue?
I look back now to realize so much has changed:
Did we fall that far out of range?
I blink in color and see in black and white.
The only message my brain processes is fright.
My core is shaking, but I’m oddly still.
Am I performing at my own will?
I feel like I’m spinning, and not in a good way:
Always begging for my sanity to stay.
My plan is a room, and I’m the designer.
My scope is as strong as any one-liner.
I continually push myself to my limit:
Stopping because I can’t control every minute.
I’m standing by, watching as you cry.
My heart breaking as I watch the time go by.
I wish I could save you from your mental health:
That’s why I wrote this apology to myself.
