Unspoken

By Cove Johnson Rabidoux

Weave a quilt of words unsung/watch as they disappear/find these words in crevices aching to be let free/but you can’t get them out/the words remain bound/trapped in a mind/out of sight/fleeting images/fading away in the night/thoughts remain in the shadows/never to take flight/feathers of words, silenced by life’s upheaval/painful memories, too much to unravel/a thousand stories/never to be revealed/the power of words/never to be felt/ the sky is full of words/words like birds soaring high/ yet none of them are yours/search for the words that will make you feel alive/but they are lost in the depths of your heart/they will never take flight/you start free falling/ falling, falling, falling/try to write down the words that you feel/but the thoughts remain jumbled/your feelings aren’t real/the paper is blank/you’re words remain unspoken/they don’t fit/ try to speak, but the words won’t come out/your voice is silent, only feelings remain of doubt/the words remain within you/but they will never be released, never heard/you try to fly, but you cannot take flight/The weight of your words keep you grounded in your plight/your dreams remain in the sky, never to be reached/your words remain unspoken/you try to shout, but your voice won’t come out/your feelings remain hidden/the paper remains blank, no words ever spoken/your voice remains silent, you can’t make it out/you try to cry, but the tears won’t come out/your voice is muffled/words without a sound/the paper remains empty, words remain unheard/your feelings remain unspoken, left with no words/you try to write, but the paper remains blank/your words remain unsaid, your thoughts remain in the dark/your words remain unspoken/your feelings remain unseen.
